Remembering Sister Audrey Stanley

Sister Audrey Stanley was suddenly called home to glory Saturday, October 17th 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Stanley, her parents Felix and Margaret Migues; three brothers: Ernest Migues, George Migues, and Leonard Migues, and two sisters: Eliza Shock and Marguerite Alford.  She is survived by her children Robert (Cindy) Stanley and Karen (Freddie) Mullins.  Her surviving grandchildren include; Craig Stanley, Chris (Renee) Stanley, Freddie Elmer (Marnie) Mullins, Laura Faye (Bradley) Robinson and Mattie Ruth Stanley. Great-grandchildren include; Rachel Mullins, Anderson Robinson, and Avie Stanley.

She was saved in September 1946, then baptized the following month in October and later joined the church that same year in November.  Through the years, Audrey had served our church and our Lord as a faithful member of the body of Christ.  She became a Deaconess November 13, 1971, serving along side her late husband, Deacon, Bobby Stanley. She has been a dedicated member of the Ladies Auxiliary for many years, always quick to offer aid to those in need or in crisis. Through the years she had served the church numerous ways; she taught a Nursery Sunday school class, served as Treasurer for many years, was an active member of our choir, and faithful attendee of Sunday school and Wednesday night Bible study. Audrey was a gifted cook, and was always quick to provide a tasty dish for any occasion. She was an accomplished quilter, and a skillful artisan in various areas of crafting.

Our church is blessed having known Sister Audrey and her presence among us will be greatly missed.  We are thankful for her life’s testimony of service for Christ, as it will continue to inspire many of us who were blessed to have called her our friend as well as our sister.  There is yet another space left within the walls of our church, yet the memory of the one who left it will forever fill our hearts and serve as a reminder of the fleeting nature of this earthly life and prompt us to look toward eternity with longing hearts.
